Ministry Opportunities at First Christian Church  

           

Christian education: Program planning of Christian Education; administering and supervising the Sunday School; planning and administering organizations and projects such as Acolytes, Chi Rho, CYF, and special education classes, Vacation Bible School, managing the nursery program and Children Worship & Wonder.

Scholarship committee: Administer the monies of the Scholarship Fund, and is now a part of the Christian Education Department instead of a separate committee.

Evangelism: Create, promote and sustain a year-round program of evangelism; plan and administer special evangelistic projects. 

Membership: Maintain contact with members; encourage member participation; manage public relations activities.

Nominating committee:  Six members, no more than one-half of whom shall be new in any one year, appointed by the moderator for a term of 2 years, and ratified by the General Board.

Personnel committee:  Responsible for managing all personnel relationships with church staff, with the exception of the minister, including the preparing of job descriptions, seeking and recommending candidates for employment, counseling, planning with staff members about their ministries, and recommending salaries and benefits.  Each year one person is nominated by the moderator and elected by the general board to serve a 3-year term.

Property: Supervise church buildings and grounds and all general equipment; supervise the purchase of all new equipment; assist the Trustees; manage the implementation and use of Property Use Policy/Procedure; manage day to day activities of custodian and lawn caretaker; manage operation of kitchen. 

      

Stewardship & Finance: Develop, implement and support a program of Stewardship education; prepare, support and monitor the church’s annual budget; supervise the work of the Financial Secretary and Treasurer; cooperate in the annual audit; manage the operation of the church office and assist the Personnel Committee with respect to the office secretary.

 

Witness: Develop, implement and support a program of missionary education and local outreach programs; promote financial support of local outreach programs and denominational special day offerings. 

           

Worship: Be responsible for the public worship of the church, services of communion and baptism; supervise the music program; manage the day-to-day activities of the choir directors and accompanists, securing appropriate substitutes; assisting the minister in securing appropriate pulpit supply.

Memorial committee: Administer the monies of the Memorial Fund and is now a part of the Worship Department instead of a separate committee.
